Rebecca & Taylor E Shoot....

Man have I been lucky with the weather lately.... what looked like a wash out again yesterday held off to allow me to have yet another incredible engagement shoot.... This time with Rebecca & Taylor. Very much looking forward to their wedding, they are a great couple and we had a blast walking around Chardon Square shooting.... Think we got some really good images! EnjoyTaylor's parents have a beautiful home and I had to show off the incredible architecture in a few shots around the house before we headed up town....
I saw this wall next to the police station on my way into town and thought it would be a cool back drop... then I came to find out from Taylor's mom that it was painted by some friends of hers in 1974! Wow, now that is cool! I think it worked perfect for a back drop!

Thanks again for a great time shooting yesterday guys! Hope everyone has a safe and fun Holiday weekend! As always, you can the rest of the shoot on my main site.... T1 out!

Michelle & Jeff Wedding.....

Soooooooooo sorry for the lack of posts on here lately.... June has been a very busy month and as of last week, I shot 3 weddings in just over one week! Happy to say however that images from all three weddings have been delivered to the clients and they all loved them! So with all my excuses out of the way, I will now share with you some of my favs from the first wedding that took place in Medina, Ohio at the beautiful Williams on the Lake.... Hope you enjoy!

Some amazing natural light coming through a sky light above the bride, Matthew the Video guy for Beach Boyz Entertainment first noticed it and we were lucky enough to get the bride out of the dressing room and under it for a nice series of shots before it went away.... Nice work Matthew....

Down town Medina also made for some really cool street shooting opportunities and we had a great time doing it. Plus, Jeff and Michelle did things a little different and we went out on our shoot before hand which allowed for a very nice, relaxed shoot. You guys were troopers in that heat!

If you would like to see more of this shoot please visit www.t1photo.com and go to the event galleries.... Then just look for Michelle and Jeff!

Cold Shoot....

So Friday it started of pretty nice out, I loaded up the Yota with my gear and set out to do another little shoot since I am really starting to Jones now.... Spring, please get here soon! While it started out somewhat nice, by the time I got to where I wanted to shoot, it had dropped down to 27 degrees and was raining.... Not sure how that is possible, but I was still able to take some pretty cool photos. Ok, so I'm not going to ramble on about how I got these shots, just wanted to share, hope you enjoy....

Night Shoot on Lake Erie.....

As promised from yesterday for anyone that read my short little rant, I went out last night and did a little shooting. Pressed for time I didn't stray far from home. It was already getting dark when I pulled into the small park down the street from my home. A family that was fishing for Steel Head in a small trib of the lake were just leaving with 2 nice fish, I actually hate to see that, put them back to fight another day. They aren't a very good eating fish and I hope they weren't just keeping them for the eggs.... Anyway, I get set up and take a few shots. All is good in the world, I'm finally out doing what I love to do, it's a great night, the lake is like glass, not too cold.... I could stay here all night.... A car pulls up, "Sir, the parks closed, going to have to ask you to leave...." Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr It's a private park, paid for buy our little community and our tax dollars, they have a family that gets to live on the property to kind of look after the place, so after a brief negotiation, I was able to stay for about 20 more minutes....

Finally, alone at last.... peace and tranquility return my little slice of the world for a moment and I'm doing my thing. It was dark by now so shooting required a long shutter. I also wanted to test out the noise levels in higher ISO settings so I went all the way up to ISO 800 and started shooting. I was pretty happy with the results....

Then I decided to try a couple self portrait shots since there was no one there to assist me.... Not my number one choice for a model, but when it's all you have, you make due....

Same type of deal, long shutter, high ISO only this time I also used a 580EX II flash set to 1/8th power using a shoot through umbrella to light my model (me) Then let the long exposure bring up the details in the back ground. Aside from the dorky model (me) I think the shots turned out pretty cool.

One of the hardest things about shooting alone & in the dark is that focusing can be very difficult. Especially with no modeling light to light the scene prior to the shot to what your actually focusing on. Auto focus? Forget about it.... not in total darkness.... So I would do my best to try and focus on the spot where I intended to stand and go from there. Not the most crisp shots I'll admit, but I was out shooting and enjoying myself.

So start to finish, I may have put in an hours worth of time. Even after a long day, dinner with the fam, being almost totally dark and everything else I still needed to do that night, I was able to get in this shoot. This goes for anything you enjoy doing in life, if it means that much to you and you truly enjoy doing it, you will find a way to make it happen....

Hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to hearing your comments!

First ever blog post....

Morning everyone! (the sound of crickets chirping in the distance....) Hmmmmm Yeah.... so this is my first blog post ever. I know, the excitement is almost unbearable! No, but really.... after talking with many of my colleagues in the photography world, it would seem that having a blog and using it on a regular basis is pretty much the norm these days. So here I am!

If you don't already know who I am and just stumbled onto my site, I am a Cleveland area wedding and portrait photographer. I have been into photography since a very young age, (I think every photographer says that....) But really, I have! My first camera was one of those ones that looked kind of like an ice-cream sandwich.... Mmmmmmmmmm Ice Cream! Anyway, it took those little 110 film cases and used the little flash cubes that you stuck on the top, sweet right! Needless to say, I had a very extensive portfolio of poorly composed finger shots early on.

Enter the high school years.... I took photography I and II while in high school and learned the basics of true black and white photography. (still a love of mine today) We used an old fully manual Pentax camera, don't even ask me what it was, I have no idea.... but Mr. Malone taught us everything about it. He also taught us how to go into a dark room, take the film out, roll it onto the little film roller thing and put it into the light tight tank for developing. Then into the dark room to make prints. Wow! Yeah, we did it all ourselves! Pretty cool stuff....

Fast forward to 1990, Germany - Purchased my first real camera on my own from the base PX. Oh yeah, I joined the army.... My first duty station was just outside of Frankfurt, Germany. Loved it over there, would love to go back someday.... So anyway, I bought a Minolta 3000i it was fully Automatic and had a 50mm 1.8 lens on it. I carried that thing everywhere.... This picture was actually taken in Portugal from a hotel room where myself and three of my good buddies stayed on a trip we took from Germany, through Spain, France and Portugal.... In four days.... I do love a good sunrise or sunset.... From there my next 180 sunsets where watched from the desert sands of Saudi Arabia & Iraq where I again took my camera. I got some incredible images while I was there and I'm glad I did, I look at them quite often and remember people and places from my life. That's what pictures are all about right?

So fast forward once again to about 3 years ago.... I had set down my camera for quite a while and followed other passions in my life, mainly music and playing drums in a couple bands. Most notable, InBred Jed! Woooooooooooooo! The Bred Heads know what I'm talking about.... Yeah, anyway.... After moving to Cleveland, Ohio and meeting my wife and her two boys, the camera once again found it's way back into my life. Only this time in the digital format. Wow, this was great a 3.1 mega pixel camera. I could take like 50 shots and download them to my computer and not have to go to the lab and pay for prints. Went from there to a Fuji 5.1 mp S5200, man this is so cool! Then onto an Olympus E500 8.1 mp with two lenses, now we're talking. The more pictures I took the more the love grew and grew and within a few months of getting that Olympus, I had to have even better.... An that is when my wife and I talked about me doing something with this passion. I decided to start a business. I bought my first Canon 40D 10.1 mp pro camera and it has been an incredible ride over the past year. Fifteen weddings later, I am in my second year of business and more in love with photography than ever before. When I look through that lens and see this on the other side, I know this is what I want to do with the rest of my life. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far and thanks for taking the time to read this first post. I promise that future posts won't be quite so long.... but I wanted to give everyone a little background on who I am and what I'm all about. Hope you enjoyed my first post and thanks again for stopping by.
